(Feb. 27, 2007) NIMS and Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore, India signed cooperation agreement between the two institutions on the joint graduate school programme and exchanging researchers.

The purpose of this cooperation agreement is to provide a mechanism for the acceptance of PhD students of JNCASR, India, to NIMS and for exchanging key researchers within the partnering institutions. JNCASR was established in 1989 by the Department of Science and Technology, Government. of India, to commemorate the centenary (1989) of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru with the main objective of promoting scientific research at the highest level in frontier and interdisciplinary areas of science and engineering.
