Rector of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia visits NIMS

(September 24th, 2014) Professor Akhmaloka, Rector of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), accompanied by 2 other members from ITB, paid a visit to NIMS.

On 24th September, Prof. Akhmaloka, Rector of ITB, accompanied by Dr. Edwan Kardena, Director of International Relations and Prof. Khairurrijal, Director of Nanotechnology Center, who had visited NIMS also on 22nd September, had a discussion with NIMS President Prof. Ushioda and two Executive Vice-Presidents Dr. Sone and Dr. Muromachi, to deepen the understanding of the situation and research education of both institutions. They also met NIMS young researchers and graduate students from Indonesia. The study life at NIMS and education in Indonesia were topics of the discussion. The Rector listened attentively and gave everybody warm encouragement. After the meeting they visited laboratories at Namiki and Sakura site.

Bandung University is the first Indonesian higher education institution dedicated to science and technology founded in 1920 and changed to the present name in 1959. It is well known that the first President of Indonesian Mr. Sukarno graduated from ITB. Nowadays ITB is highly evaluated as the best university for science and technology, and the highest scores in the National Center Test are required to enter ITB.

It is expected that the visit of ITB top delegation would lead to further enhancement of personal exchanges and academic collaborations between NIMS and ITB.
