National Institute for Materials Science

NIMS recently issued a total of four Fatigue Data Sheets, beginning with "NIMS FATIGUE DATA SHEET No. 112, Data Sheet on Gigacycle Fatigue Properties of Bearing Steel SUJ2 (Fe-1C-1.4Cr)," as part of efforts to improve the intellectual infrastructure under its Five-Year Plan.

Abstract

The National Institute for Materials Science (President: Sukekatsu Ushioda) issued the following four Fatigue Data Sheets on March 31, 2011 as part of efforts to improve the intellectual infrastructure under its Five-Year Plan:

  1. "NIMS FATIGUE DATA SHEET No.112
Data Sheet on Gigacycle Fatigue Properties of Bearing Steel SUJ2 (Fe-1C-1.4Cr)"
  2. "NIMS FATIGUE DATA SHEET No. 113
Data Sheet on Long Term, High Temperature, Low Cycle Fatigue Properties of Nickel Alloy Plate Alloy NW6617 (Ni-22Cr-12Co-9Mo)"
  3. "NIMS FATIGUE DATA SHEET No. 114
Data Sheet on Fatigue Properties of Non-Load-Carrying Fillet Welded Joints of Rolled Steel for Welded Structures SM490B – Effect of Plate Thickness (No. 4, Plate Thickness 40 mm)"
  4. "NIMS FATIGUE DATA SHEET No.115
Data Sheet on High Stress Ratio Side Gigacycle Fatigue Properties of Titanium Alloy Ti-6Al-4V ELI (900MPa Class)"

Among the Data Sheets published on this occasion, No. 112 clarifies the gigacycle fatigue properties of bearing steel SUJ2 up to 1010 (10 billion) cycles, as obtained using a rotating-bending fatigue test machine (100Hz).
No. 113 clarifies the fatigue properties and superposed action of creep and fatigue (creep fatigue) in the nickel alloy plate NW6617 under high temperatures over extended periods up to 106 (1 million) cycles by strain control, obtained with an oil hydraulic servo-type test machine.
No. 114 examines non-load-carrying fillet welded joints of rolled steel for welded structures SM490B, clarifying the fatigue properties for the plate thickness of 40mm up to 108 (100 million) cycles, obtained with an oil hydraulic servo-type fatigue tester.
No. 115, for the titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V ELI (900MPa class), clarifies the gigacycle fatigue properties on the high stress ratio side up to 1010 (10 billion) cycles, obtained using an ultrasonic fatigue test device (20 kHz).

NIMS administers work related to the issuance of Data Sheets in accordance with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System (JIS Q 9001 Quality Management System) certified on May 20, 2002.
