Prof. Dr. Jaromir PASTOREK, President of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS), paid a visit to NIMS with two directors of research institutions under the SAS.
Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS) is an academic research institution which is playing leading roles in education, basic and applied research in the country and overseas by developing Science and Technology in Slovakia. It consists of 56 scientific institutes in the three scientific sections and there are more than 3,000 employees including 1,800 scientists holding PhDs or higher degrees. Many of them teach at universities nationally and internationally.
Prof. Pastorek came to Japan in attendance on the President of Slovakia and visited NIMS along with Dr. Frantisek SIMANCIK, Director of Institute of Materials & Machine Mechanics and Prof. Dr. Pavol SAJGALIK, Director of Institute of Inorganic Chemistry.
At the meeting with NIMS President and executives, both exchanged information and opinions about the current state of materials research in each country with introduction of SAS and NIMS. In Slovakia, a number of auto parts factories from Western Europe and Korea is now increasing every year and some laboratories under the SAS are also putting effort into the research on materials for automotive components.
Both SAS and NIMS are eager to build more cooperative relations and agreed to facilitate researcher’s exchange and plan to hold a joint workshop in the future.
