The National Institute for Materials Science issued the following three Fatigue Data Sheets dated March 31, 2009 as part of its effort to improve the intellectual infrastructure for materials science under its Mid-Term Program.

Abstract

The National Institute for Materials Science (President: Teruo Kishi) issued the following three Fatigue Data Sheets dated March 31, 2009 as part of its effort to improve the intellectual infrastructure for materials science under its Mid-Term Program.

  1. “NIMS Fatigue Data Sheet No. 106: Data Sheet on Ultrasonic Fatigue Properties of Alloy Steel SCM440 (0.4C-1Cr-0.2Mo) for Machine Structural Use”
  2. NIMS Fatigue Data Sheet No. 107: Data Sheet on Gigacycle Fatigue Properties of Titanium Alloy Ti-6Al-4V ELI (1100MPa Class)”
  3. “NIMS Fatigue Data Sheet No. 108: Data Sheet on Fatigue Properties of Non-Load-Carrying Fillet Welded Joints of SM490B Rolled Steel for Welded Structures – Effect of Plate Thickness (Part 3, Plate Thickness 80mm) – ”
Among these recently-issued Data Sheets, in No. 106, an ultrasonic fatigue tester (20kHz) was applied to clarify the gigacycle fatigue properties of the alloy steel SCM440 for machine structural use up of 1010 (10 billion) cycles. In No. 107, the gigacycle fatigue properties of the titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V ELI (1100MPa class) were clarified up to 1010 (10 billion) cycles using an ultrasonic fatigue tester (20kHz). In No. 108, the fatigue properties of non-load-carrying fillet welded joints of SM490B rolled steel for welded structures were clarified for the plate thickness of 80mm using a hydraulic servo type fatigue tester.

NIMS administers work related to the issuance of Data Sheets in accordance with the ISO 9001 “Quality Management System” (JIS Q 9001 “Quality Management System”) certified on May 20, 2002.
