National Institute for Materials Science
The National Institute for Materials Science (President: Prof. Teruo Kishi), as part of efforts to improve the intellectual infrastructure under its Mid-Term Program, released the following two NIMS Data Sheets on March 31, 2008.
Abstract
- "NIMS Fatigue Data Sheet No. 104, Data Sheet on Gigacycle Fatigue Properties of Alloy Steel SCM440 (0.40C-1Cr-0.2Mo) for Machine Structural Use"
- "NIMS Fatigue Data Sheet No. 105, Data Sheet on Gigacycle Fatigue Properties of Titanium Alloy Ti-6Al-4V ELI (900MPa Class)"
In the two recently-released Data Sheets, No. 104 presents the 1010 (10 billion) gigacycle fatigue properties of alloy steel SCM400 for machine structural use, which were obtained using a rotating bending fatigue test machine (100Hz), and No. 105 presents the 1010 (10 billion) gigacycle fatigue properties of titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V ELI (900MPa class) obtained using an ultrasonic fatigue test machine (20kHz).
The National Institute for Materials Science operates its data sheet publication program in accordance with ISO 9001 "Quality Management System" (JIS Q 9001 "Quality Management System") as certified on May 20, 2002.
